Failure & Resilience

We are always encouraged to never give up, strive for our dreams and believe in our potential.

The problem in today’s society is everyone seems to be aiming for dreams and aspirations that aren’t necessarily self-made. You see someone achieve in something great – you get turned on by this, you want the same, but you forget strengths differ amongst people & begin to self-attack when you can’t reach their potential.

On the other hand we have been conditioned to become complacent, if we fail, we give up, we take it personally. We must however acknowledge learning is what got us to adulthood, we learnt behaviours, dialogue and how to socialise through conditioning – falling and stepping back up.

From riding a bike with stabilisers, to riding a bike with two wheels and grazing our knees, then riding a bike and succeeding, and winning the Tour de France (you get my drift)

No one ever told us it would be easy – and if they did, maybe because they knew you had the potential there to succeed & do even better

Setbacks shouldn’t hold you back.

If you hit rock bottom, or you didn’t make the role, then the situation probably wasn’t right for you. Think of everything in life as a puzzle piece. When a puzzle piece doesn’t fit we pick up the next piece and try again – we know there will be a piece somewhere, a perfect match

So here’s my little prod to tell you to not give up the fight, stay resilient & keep doing what feels right for you

Change

Change is upon us as we approach deeper into Autumn. For some this means dark colder mornings & darker evenings, strong winds, damp & grey days. But for others, they see the golden leaves settle beneath the warm auburn skies. Acorns & conkers scatter the ground,  where wildlife is immeasurable as they prepare for Winter, they prepare for change.

Change, I’m sure that word wakens your nerves & triggers times of uncertainty, confusion & for some of you, like it has for myself, a time of intense anxiety.

Change is inevitable – so why do we fear it? That’s easy, we allow ourselves to. Change is not a quick snapshot of life, its a process, & not a linear process either.

The only thing we are up against in life is our own thought & emotional processes. Of course there are external energies, but how we approach them & allow them to affect us is under our control. It’s how you think about change that will ultimately influence your feelings & guide your actions.

Tackle what it is you are afraid of or whats creating stress. Take a deep breath, allow the anxieties to rise, allow them to cause discomfort. Ease your breathing, channelling into each anxiety. Think of each anxiety as a superpower, close your eyes & imagine their energies to strengthen your inner being. When doubt creeps in again, challenge those thoughts & be rational – list the positives. Those positives are where you now centre your focus.

The problem is not the negativity associated with the change, there is nothing negative about change, change means growth & adaptation. Use what frightens you to grow you.

Control the change, don’t let the change control you.

Its Okay to Have a Bad Day

Think of every day as if you were walking on a tight rope. There will be wobbles, but it is important for you to stay focussed & make sure you don’t fall off.

Think of the tight rope as your life. You’re constantly battling external elements challenging you from every angle. Your wobbles are your emotions, they move a little, test you, see if you’ll crack.

Your focus is your resilience, its your fight, your force to keep you secure on the tight rope, firmly facing forward as you go through life.

Its okay to have a bad day – its okay to feel less complete some days. Your soul requires difficulties to strengthen in order to sustain further difficulties.

We can become overwhelmed some times when we face more than one difficulty. I know for me all my troubles seem to come at once.

Embrace the fight, just don’t give up & whatever you do, don’t fall.

The Meaning of Life

What is the meaning of life for you?

Do you keep pushing yourself to be the best you can be with fulfilment and purpose? or do you continuously stop & question whether there is any purpose at all? Are you worn, tired & feeling like everything is unreachable?

If the latter is true, why? Why have you shifted your focus away from the unique being that you are. Life is sustainable and reachable through self love, inner strength and realising the physiological energy we create.

Life is not about status, money or control. The power you should be seeking is the power in you, the power of your body, mind & soul, all that makes you unique.

Ask yourself, are you chasing for a life that’s built on self made dreams, aspirations and passion, or are you drained, focused on a future that tires you & threatens your confidence.

Or maybe you see no future?

Challenge yourself, break comfort zones, but don’t strive for a life not worth living. You only get one.

Life is a journey, not a destination. Trust the process, trust your own creativity, genius & original self.

Breathe More. Stress Less.

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious and mind-boggled?

Can’t afford a massage or just can’t find 60 minutes to fit one it?

Lacking some focus & need a reboot?

No worries. Below are some simple and effective breathing techniques for you to try

  •  Progressive relaxation

– Lying down with your eyes closed, focus your attention on your body. Notice any imbalances, aches & pains or tightness. Starting from your toes, concentrate on tensing each muscle from toes to head, include you eyes & mouth. Tense each muscle for three seconds, then relax moving on to the next one. Continue to breath slowly & deeply, in through the nose & out through the mouth.

  •  Alternate Nostril Breathing (for awakening senses & refocussing)

– Sit comfortably, some find legs crossed is best. Hold your thumb over your left nostril and inhale deeply so the air passes through your right nostril. At the top of the breath switch your finger to block the right nostril and exhale through the left. Repeat, alternating nostrils.

  • Equal Breathing

– breathe in through your nose for four counts. Then out through your nose for four counts. Repeat this several times. Once you feel more comfortable with the breath, you can advance your breathing by adding in more counts
